Frequently asked questions
Farmzz questions, answered
Everything farmers ask before they start: setup, SMS and email notifications, QR codes, pricing, list ownership, and compliance.
Getting started
What is Farmzz?
Farmzz is a notification platform for local farms. You collect your customers' phone numbers and emails — usually with a QR code at your market stand — and then send them a text or email the moment your harvest is ready. No website to build, no social media algorithm deciding who sees you.
How long does it take to set up?
Most farms are sending their first notification the same day. You create your farm profile, print your QR code, and start collecting subscribers at your next market. There is nothing to install and no app for your customers to download.
Do my customers need an app?
No. They scan your QR code, enter their phone number or email, and that's it. Your messages arrive as a normal text message or a normal email.
What kind of farms use Farmzz?
Vegetable growers, market gardeners, orchards, maple producers, microgreens growers, meat and egg producers, and CSA farms. If you sell directly to people who live nearby, Farmzz fits.
Sending notifications
What can I send?
Harvest announcements, market-day reminders, "we're sold out" updates, pickup times, weather closures, new product launches, and end-of-season notices. Anything that makes the difference between produce sold and produce composted.
Is there a limit on how many messages I can send?
No. SMS and email notifications are unlimited on every plan.
Can I send to only part of my list?
Yes. You can target subscribers by the farm location or market they signed up at, and by their language (French or English), so a Saturday-market message only reaches Saturday-market customers.
What is the AI assistant by text?
You can write your notification in plain language and the assistant turns it into a short, clear message in French or English. Useful when you're coming in from the field and have four minutes before pickup starts.
Growing your list
How do the QR codes work?
Farmzz generates a QR code for your farm — and separate ones per stand or market if you want. Print it on a sign, a chalkboard, a bag sticker or a receipt. A customer scans it, subscribes in about ten seconds, and appears on your list immediately. QR codes are how the large majority of Farmzz subscribers sign up.
How fast does a list grow?
It depends on your foot traffic, but farms with a visible QR sign at a busy stand routinely add several dozen subscribers per month during peak season. Placement matters more than anything else: at eye level, next to the payment point.
Money and admin
How much does Farmzz cost?
Plans start at $65 per month on the annual plan, $85 semi-annual, and $95 quarterly. Every plan includes unlimited SMS and email, QR codes, your farm profile, the AI assistant, and analytics.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 14 days, no card required to start.
Can I cancel or pause for the off-season?
Yes. You can cancel at any time, and seasonal farms often move to a plan that covers only their selling months. Your subscriber list stays with you.
Data and compliance
Who owns my subscriber list?
You do. You can export it at any time. Farmzz never markets to your customers and never sells or shares your list.
Is Farmzz compliant with Canadian anti-spam rules (CASL / Law 25)?
Yes. Every subscriber gives explicit consent at signup, consent is timestamped and stored, and every message includes a one-tap unsubscribe. That consent record is what protects you if a customer ever complains.
